CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS WITH BEETHOVEN AND OTHERS IN STYLE

Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, London WC1R 4RL

C L A U D I O    B O H O R Q U E Z   Cello             A L B E R T O    P O R T U G H E I S    Piano

This was an exclusive and unique opportunity to experience the performance of two international, well-known and highly respected interpreters of Beethoven who joined forces in telling the story of the Composer’s life through his five Cello and Piano Sonatas in this, the anniversary of his month of birth. It also celebrated Thomas Harris’ own love of Beethoven. To hear all of these masterpieces in one fell swoop is a special occasion indeed, rarely to be found.

CLAUDIO BOHORQUEZ

Claudio Bohórquez, descent of Peruvian and Uruguayan ancestors, has been hailed as one of the most exciting and fascinating musicians of his generation by conductors, audiences, concert presenters and critics alike. His recent tour with the National Symphony Orchestra under Christoph Eschenbach with concerts in Washington and Latin America was a huge success. He played “unforgettably and excellent” and his interpretation of the Lalo Cello concert was “the most beautiful I have ever heard”, wrote a Washington Post critic. In the 2012/2013 season, Claudio Bohórquez was able to display his talent as chamber musician: he appeared in Madrid and Bilbao together with Jörg Widmann and Katia Skanavi and performed piano trios by Beethoven with Viviane Hagner and Jonathan Gilad during the Beethoven Marathon at Konzerthaus Berlin.
